Before their recent rebirths as colleges, the three RMET campuses were, for hundreds of years, bustling centres of commerce and manufacturing.
All three have always provided superb access to quality materials, skilled labour and communications: as RMET colleges, they now offer small businesses and artisans an even more attractive package.
Some of our commercial partners, such as the cafes, are wholly-owned subsidiaries; others share our facilities as tenants, enjoying the benefits of thriving centres of excellence such as the Ruskin Glass Centre or Sheffield's Academy of Makers. But most fall somewhere between these two extremes; perhaps receiving subsidised accommodation or other benefits, in return for teaching or work experience.
