Q Can I come and visit?
A Visitors are always welcome. If you think you would like to come to an RMET college ask to come to a visitors' day. You will be able to look around the college, ask lots of questions and get to know us.
If we think it is the right place for you, and you agree, we will ask you to fill in an application form. You will be invited to stay at the college for a few days to see if you like being a student. We will get to know you and then decide together if an RMET college is the right college for you.
Q When do I need to apply to the college?
A Spaces at the Colleges are limited, we therefore recommend you apply by January for a September start date.
Applying and getting the funding to come an RMET college can be lengthy process. We can help you and your family and carers to understand how to do this.
Q Where can I get funding from for the course?
A Funding is normally available from the Learning and Skills Council (LSC) and / or your Social Services Department. Funding should be discussed with a professional referral agent, such as your Specialist Careers Adviser.
Q How do I apply for funding for the course?
A The funding application is normally handled by your local Careers Office and / or your Local Education Authority.
Q What is the LSC?
A The LSC holds a budget from the government to fund places in Further Education. It is also responsible for monitoring the quality of provision in establishments where it is funding individuals.
Q Can RMET accept applications from other countries in the European Union and outside the EU?
A Yes. However, it is essential that all applicants are fluent in the English language.
Q Can a place at an RMET college be funded privately?
A Yes places can be funded privately.
